AICS FAQs

What are AICS numbers?

AICS numbers are chemical identification numbers, which were given to chemicals on AICS when NICNAS was established in 1990. These numbers were alternate identification numbers to CAS numbers.

Since 1994, the AICS numbering system has been discontinued. If a chemical does not have an AICS number but is present on the AICS CD-ROM with a CAS number, it is considered to be on the Inventory.
