Draft Cost Recovery Impact Statement

This consultation closed on 30 November 2011

On 19 October 2011, NICNAS released a draft Cost Recovery Impact Statement (CRIS) and invited feedback from stakeholders.

Key changes proposed in the draft CRIS included:

  • Better alignment of fees with costs associated with delivering the services;
  • Transition to a four tiered registration structure to provide for more equitable charging arrangements;
  • Arrangements to recover the cost of the first stage of the accelerated assessment and prioritisation of existing chemicals.

Purpose of this consultation

The purpose of the draft CRIS was:

  • To transparently demonstrate compliance with the Government's Cost Recovery and Guidelines; and
  • To outline proposed changes to the existing cost recovery arrangements based on review outcomes.

Stakeholders were invited to provide feedback on the draft CRIS for consideration in the development of the final CRIS. NICNAS also held two public consultation workshops in Sydney (11 November) and Melbourne (14 November).
