Self Assessment

Introducers can use an audited self-assessment system to self-assess non-hazardous chemicals against certain criteria and guidelines.

Applicants may submit a self-assessment application for:

  • Polymers of low concern (PLC) - see Chapter 5.4, NICNAS Handbook for Notifiers

  • Non-hazardous chemicals and non-hazardous polymers other than PLCs - see Chapter 5.9, NICNAS Handbook for Notifiers.

Following successful submission of a self-assessment report, the certification process will be completed within 28 days.

Holders of a self-assessed assessment certificate must keep records to support any statement made in or in connection with the application, for 5 years from the date the certificate is issued, and this information may be subject to audit.

The certificate holder(s) also must provide an annual report to the Director, NICNAS each registration year.
