Voluntary Call for Information on Precursor Chemicals (Explosives); Downstream users of nitric acid and hydrogen peroxide

The National Industrial Chemicals Notification and Assessment Scheme (NICNAS) published a call for information on certain chemicals which can be utilised in the manufacture of explosives in the Chemical Gazette of 7 April 2009. The voluntary Call for Information can be accessed in the NICNAS Chemical Gazette April 2009.

The voluntary Call for Information was directed at introducers of 12 precursor chemicals. The information provided by the introducers has allowed the identification of end users, resellers and formulators of the chemicals who will be surveyed to obtain detailed information on downstream use. Users of nitric acid and hydrogen peroxide are being surveyed first.

To assist with the recording of relevant information on the use of nitric acid, NICNAS has developed a survey template which can be downloaded. (nitric acid survey template).

The survey template for recording of relevant information on the use of hydrogen peroxide can be downloaded. (hydrogen peroxide survey template).

Please send the requested information by 8 September 2009 to:
