Amendments to the Act in 2004 established a mechanism for the Director to include certain particulars in relation to chemicals on the AICS, and any condition of use to which a chemical is subject through annotation is enforceable under the Act. In 2006-07 we upgraded our existing business database, the AICS database and web server to enable the addition of information to the AICS listings displayed on the NICNAS website.

In addition, with the AICS now freely available on the NICNAS website, the public can access other important/useful information through the AICS search facility. Information on 2783 individual AICS listed chemicals that are either subject to regulatory controls, under review or of particular interest to industry and/or the community has been added to date, including hazard information, relevant international restrictions and links to NICNAS and international assessment reports.
