NICNAS responded to 4573 public enquiries during the year, compared to 5289 in 2006-07 and 7735 in 2005-06. This was made up of 2922 telephone enquiries and 1651 written inquiries.  These required 1631 hours to handle, compared to 1195 in 2006-07 and 1965 in 2005-06.
