NICNAS has been closely involved in Government scrutiny of whether adequate regulatory frameworks exist for managing potential risks of nanotechnology.

It continues to lead Australia’s involvement in the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development’s working party on manufactured nanomaterials.

In particular, NICNAS is chairing a project on establishing a database of research into health, safety and environmental effects. It is facilitating development of an Australian consortium to participate in the testing of a representative set of nanomaterials.
