NICNAS continued to provide clear and accessible information on its website.

This assisted importers and manufacturers of industrial chemicals in Australia to fulfill their obligations, as well as the community to engage with NICNAS.

A total of 1,326,533 visitor sessions recorded at NICNASs website, up 25 per cent from 1,068,829 in 2006-07.

Total hits for the year were over 26 million, compared to 29 million in 2006-07.

Site traffic details are at Appendix 17.

The NICNAS website received positive feedback in the 2007-08 Customer Survey.

The website, which features 2,227 chemical assessment reports, allows users to search assessment reports by chemical name, trade name, Chemical Abstracts Service number, hazardous status, and Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development industry use category.

All NICNAS website information is available without cost to users, delivering greater access to chemical safety information for the public, government agencies and industry. This fulfils a key requirement of the Act.

In accord with Australian Government publishing guidelines, NICNAS maintains copies of printed information and provides a print-on-demand service from its website. Electronic templates continue to reduce time and costs to businesses in making applications for assessments.

The continued trend to electronic publications was illustrated by the fact that for the second year in succession, no copies of the Handbook for Notifiers were sold in 2007-08. All other NICNAS printed materials are available free-of-charge to industry.
